Rostin Enterprises, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates Sticklit, including the Sticklit website and related pages, forms, surveys, email communications, book recommendation services, and optional paid features such as Sticklit Plus that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the "Services").
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you use the Services. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the Services.

Summary
- We collect limited personal information, mainly your email address, survey answers, recommendation preferences, basic website usage data, and — if you buy Sticklit Plus — purchase and payment-status records from our payment processor.
- We use this information to provide book suggestions, process optional paid features, send requested emails, improve the Services, measure performance, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
- Some book purchase links may be affiliate links. If you click a third-party bookstore link or buy a book from a third-party retailer, that third party handles that bookstore purchase and its privacy policy applies.
- If you buy Sticklit Plus, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not intentionally collect or store your full payment card number on our servers; Stripe handles card data under its own privacy policy.
- You may contact us to access, correct, delete, or object to certain uses of your personal information, depending on applicable law.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal information in three main ways: information you provide, information collected automatically, and information received from service providers or affiliate partners.
Information you provide
- Email address and, if you provide it, your name or username.
- Survey answers, such as reading preferences, favorite books, preferred genres, personality or archetype answers, goals, disliked genres, reading level, and other responses you choose to provide so we can generate recommendations.
- Communication information, such as messages you send to us through email, forms, or social media.
- Marketing preferences, such as whether you subscribed, unsubscribed, or changed email preferences.
- Optional feedback, testimonials, or comments you choose to send us.
- If you buy Sticklit Plus, purchase-related information such as that a payment succeeded, Stripe checkout session identifiers, purchase timestamps, and the Sticklit Plus access and retaste status associated with your result.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data, such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring pages, pages visited, dates and times of access, and interaction events.
- Cookie and similar technology data, such as cookie identifiers, analytics identifiers, affiliate attribution data, and preference settings.
- Approximate location inferred from IP address, such as country or region. We may use country-level location to determine whether Sticklit Plus is offered in your region. We do not intend to collect precise GPS location through the Services.
Information from third parties
- Email delivery, analytics, hosting, survey, and security providers may provide us with technical or usage information needed to operate the Services.
- Payment processors such as Stripe may provide payment status, transaction identifiers, limited billing details needed to confirm a purchase, and fraud-prevention signals. Stripe processes card numbers and related payment credentials under Stripe's privacy policy; we do not intentionally store full payment card numbers on our servers.
- Affiliate networks or book retailers may provide limited attribution or performance information, such as whether a link was clicked or whether a commission was generated. We generally do not receive your full payment card details or full purchase account information from third-party book retailers.
Sensitive information. We do not intentionally request sensitive personal information such as government identification numbers, full payment card numbers on our own forms, precise geolocation, biometric data, health information, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, political opinions, union membership, or sexual orientation. Do not include sensitive information in survey free-text answers or messages to us unless we specifically request it for a lawful and disclosed purpose. When you pay for Sticklit Plus, card data is entered on Stripe's checkout and processed by Stripe.
2. How We Use Personal Information
- To provide book recommendations based on your survey answers and preferences.
- To email Sticklit Plus purchasers detailed book and store links for their unlocked set (and retastes), and to send other emails you request or consent to receive — such as updates or newsletters.
- To process Sticklit Plus purchases, unlock paid features, grant and track retaste credits, archive prior taste rounds, and confirm payment status with our payment processor.
- To determine regional eligibility for paid features using approximate country inferred from IP address.
- To operate, maintain, secure, debug, and improve the Services.
- To personalize the user experience, remember preferences, and understand which recommendations or content are useful.
- To measure website traffic, email performance, survey completion, link clicks, affiliate performance, and paid-feature conversion.
- To respond to support requests, questions, feedback, refund inquiries, or legal requests.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our terms.
- To comply with legal, accounting, tax, and regulatory obligations.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
Where laws such as the EU or UK GDPR require a legal basis for processing, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Consent, such as when you submit survey answers, subscribe to marketing emails, or allow non-essential cookies.
- Performance of a requested service or contract, such as generating the book recommendations you asked for, or processing a Sticklit Plus purchase you initiate.
- Legitimate interests, such as improving the Services, measuring performance, preventing abuse, and keeping the website secure, where those interests are not overridden by your privacy rights.
- Legal obligations, such as retaining limited purchase or tax records, responding to lawful requests, or complying with applicable laws.
4. Book Recommendations, Affiliate Links, and Third-Party Retailers
Sticklit provides book suggestions and may link to third-party websites where books can be purchased. Some links may be affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you click a link or make a purchase. This does not change the price you pay unless stated otherwise.
Sticklit Plus is different: it is a paid feature you buy directly from us (see Section 5). Bookstore affiliate links, if shown, remain optional third-party purchases of physical or digital books from those retailers.
When you click a third-party bookstore link, you leave our Services. Third-party retailers, publishers, affiliate networks, payment processors, and platforms operate independently from us. Their privacy policies, terms, prices, delivery rules, refunds, taxes, and customer service practices apply to that bookstore purchase. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
5. Sticklit Plus and Payments
Sticklit Plus is an optional paid feature that may unlock additional book recommendations for a result and grant a limited number of "retastes" (opportunities to update your taste inputs and receive a fresh set of books). Availability may be limited by region; we currently offer Sticklit Plus in countries where Stripe Managed Payments provides tax coverage for digital products (inferred from IP address).
Payments for Sticklit Plus are processed by Stripe(Stripe, Inc. and its affiliates). When you check out, you provide payment details to Stripe. Stripe's privacy policy and terms govern how Stripe handles your payment information. We receive confirmation that payment succeeded, related transaction or session identifiers, and other limited information needed to fulfill your purchase, prevent fraud, and keep accounting records. We do not intentionally store your full payment card number on Sticklit servers.
You can learn more about Stripe's practices at stripe.com/privacy.
7. Email Communications
Free players are not emailed a result. If you purchase Sticklit Plus, we may email you the unlocked book recommendations and store links associated with that purchase or later retastes. We may also use your email to respond to your requests, send administrative notices, and, if you consent or where otherwise permitted by law, send newsletters, updates, or marketing communications. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in the email or contacting us. We may still send non-marketing messages, such as privacy, security, purchase confirmations, or service notices.
8. AI and Automated Recommendation Tools
We may use automated rules, recommendation systems, or artificial intelligence tools to analyze survey answers and generate book suggestions. These tools are used to provide recommendations and improve the Services. They are not used to make legal, financial, employment, credit, housing, insurance, or similarly significant decisions about you.
If we use third-party AI or recommendation providers, we will limit the information shared to what is reasonably needed for the service and will require appropriate confidentiality, security, and data protection commitments where applicable.
10. International Data Transfers
Rostin Enterprises, LLC is based in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your personal information may be processed in the United States and other countries that may have privacy laws different from those in your location. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections with service providers.
11. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Our typical retention approach is:
- Email subscription records: until you unsubscribe, request deletion, or the list is cleaned for inactivity, plus limited suppression records needed to honor unsubscribe requests.
- Survey answers and recommendation history: generally up to 24 months after collection, unless you request deletion sooner or we need to retain limited records for legal, security, or abuse-prevention reasons.
- Sticklit Plus purchase and payment-status records (including Stripe session identifiers and unlock/retaste status): generally for the life of the related result plus up to 7 years, or longer if needed for accounting, tax, dispute, chargeback, or legal reasons.
- Support communications: generally up to 3 years after the issue is resolved.
- Cookie consent records: generally up to 5 years or the period needed to demonstrate compliance.
- Security logs and technical logs: generally up to 12 months, unless needed longer for security, legal, or operational reasons.
- Aggregated or de-identified information: may be retained longer because it no longer identifies you.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, such as HTTPS, access controls, limited internal access, vendor controls, monitoring, and secure storage practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You use the Services at your own risk and should only submit information through secure networks and trusted devices.
13. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 16 without required consent, we will delete it or take other appropriate action. If you believe a child provided personal information to us, contact us at [email protected].
14. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent, opt out of certain processing, appeal a denied request, or lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
To exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
Marketing opt-out. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in the email.
Cookie opt-out. You can manage cookie preferences through our cookie tool, where available, and through browser settings.
Global Privacy Control. Where legally required, we will honor browser-based opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control for applicable sale, sharing, or targeted advertising choices.
15. Do-Not-Track
Some browsers offer Do-Not-Track signals. Because there is not a uniform industry standard for responding to these signals, we do not currently respond to Do-Not-Track. We may honor Global Privacy Control or similar legally recognized opt-out preference signals where required by law.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the "Last updated" date above. If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice, such as posting a notice on the website or sending an email where appropriate.
17. Contact Us
